Biking Weather!

Not too bad weather-wise for August. When I headed out for coffee this morning, it was a sunny 65 degrees. Did my errands (blood draw, coffee at Panera Bread, checked magazines at B&N, and visit at the bike shop.
Time to change into my cycling kit. It had been a while since I took the hardtail on the Wabash Trace. Perfect day for a ride Silver City to Malvern.
It was 81 deg when I headed south on the Trace. Noticed a little tail wind. Was thinking of riding my 20 miles (to Mahr Ave and back). Knowing I would have a headwind on the way back to the car, I settled turning back at Malvern and a 17 mile ride.
Today's photo is of the depot at Malvern. Beautiful day for a bike ride. Hope folks took advantage of the weather.

A SMALL MOBILE LIBRARY AND A TINY PURPLE BUS

There is no doubt that being on the edge of two seasons is making me restless. I am losing interest in the garden, but I want to do something - something creative, probably - but not painting. I think I want to do sewing, certainly something with fabric, so to this end I have been sorting through my fabrics. Inspiration has not struck yet, I am sure it is just a matter of time!!

I began the day by cleaning windows, lots of windows. At least we can see through them again, even when the sun shines onto them.

This is the equipment needed for my patented window cleaning method - quick and easy, streak-free results.

This was followed up by some hoovering and polishing.

Chores over, we got changed and went into the village to the mobile library. It only comes to the village once a month, for half an hour, and it is a case of 'use it or lose it' because the Council is always looking for easy ways to save money. The regular library van was in for a service so, as you can see, we had the tiny one today. It meant limited choices, but I still managed to get eight books.

George couldn't resist taking more photos - luckily Sheila didn't mind! Then, just to prove that he knows how to give me a good time, George drove on to South Thoresby Vine Inn, where he got rid of the glass for recycling!!

While we were on the library the Little Purple Bus came and turned around, it was picking up Bernard's wife, son and stepdaughter. Apparently poor old Bernard is seriously ill in Grimsby Hospital with a blood clot on his lung. The bus works on the basis that you ring and request to be collected and it then either takes you to your destination (if nearby) or to connect with another bus service.

Martin has finally taken away all the straw bales and has spent the afternoon circling the field trimming the edges and trimming the hedges. Don't worry Jonny - he didn't wreck the fencing this time! All is neat and shipshape, ready for the Enduro races this weekend.

Your Pa has been working all afternoon in the wood, again. It is looking magnificent! Photos to follow over the next few days.

Davina is keeping well - and so is little Harry. He has been out with Grandpa, running around the field and chasing Toby. When they finally came back in Harry was desperate for some milk and a toasted crumpet. Once he had demolished that he gave me a milky, buttery kiss and went back home, reluctantly, as it was bathtime and bedtime.

See what exciting times you are missing by being in Shanghai Jonny. It all happens in Aby. Have a great weekend!

Lots of love,

Mumxxx

Award and Nice Day for a Mini-Outing!

Sweet Yoda from Barking Out Loud passed this award to me and I send apologies to Yoda for not having acknowledged his thoughtfulness in thinking of me sooner! There are rules for accepting this award: First, I have to list 7 things to share about me!1. Here's one y'all already know: I LOVES my kong! - in the water, on the grass - anywhere at all. It is my furry favorite toy ever!2. I love to eat - anything...but foodables is best. Mom just changed up my diet this week - I am eating part raw food and this morning (hold onto your stomachs...) I ate raw ground turkey and organ meats and it was pawesomely good. 3. I am learning more and more about my new baby sisfur, Avalon, every day. I'm trying to be a good example for her morning outside bizzness, if you know what I mean heheh. She's doing purty good at copying me! I'm furry interested in her and she seems to love me with great amounts of enthusiasm - mayhap too much sometimes, fur me! We'll be workin' on working it out! 4. I adore swimming - I will swim in ponds, oceans, streams and lakes. There is nothing better in any weather, any season than paddling around in deep waters! (Add kong to the recipe and I'm in heaven...)5. I loves my peeps and they really love me. Especially getting a ton of loving lately from lots of people! I also loves the grandpeeps - I'm furry good with little, little peeps!6. You should probably know that Ozzie and I are getting to be pretty good pals these days! She still doesn't know the rules of canine play, but that's okay, cause we've kinda figured out our own rules!7. Many of you know that Sierra Rose is my BFF, so I loves it when she comes over and plays - she's a firecracker dog, even though she's a golden, and stimulates me to get moving and play hard! Loves you Sierra!Part the second is to pass this award on to 15 pals and since I think the entire bloggie world has this cool award, PLEASE, if you don't have it yet, take this award and tell us all seven things about you - it's neat to find out your fun facts!
So here I am at Blackie's Pasture yesterday. Something got on Mom's lens, so it's a bit blurry, but I think that this shows how much I love my kong heheh! On land....
On the beach....
In the water...
Showing my sister about how cool kongs are! Isn't Dad's hair funny in the wind?!!! Hope you are having a great weekend.

Back on the Bike

Tuesday, I was back on the road bike. It was time to check out trail conditions.
The river level continues to drop. Still lots of water flowing down the Missouri. Parts of the trails at Lake Manawa remain under water. The photo here shows how much of the trail is underwater.
Checked status of re-paving along 92 and S. 24th St to Trails Center. Nothing changed since stripping the asphalt.

A Theme...

After my swim and the nosey "play bow," I am compelled to annihilate the stink-in-the-grass by immersing myself into the job fully and joyfully! Happy Friday pups!
